Bucs End Season as Regional Quarterfinalists

The Bucs baseball season came to an end this past Saturday by losing games 2 and 3 to the Trinity Tigers in the Regional Quarterfinals.  The Bucs lost game 2, 19-13, and game 3, 8-7.

The foundation for the Bucs success this season was pitching and defense. However, on Saturday, this would not be the case. In 3 games, the pitching allowed 32 runs and only 16 were earned.  The defense committed 11 errors in the series which led to the 16 unearned runs.  The offense was more than ample enough to win the series but the Bucs could not overcome poor pitching and defensive performances.

In game 2, Trey Lambert was roughed up for 9 runs in 3 innings before being relieved by JT Hallmark.  Hallmark did not fair much better by allowing 10 runs (4 earned) in 2 1/3 innings.  Brock Lavergne finished game 2 by pitching the last 1 1/3 innings and gave up no runs.

Offensive performers were many: Ethan Brevard 1-2, JT Hallmark 3-4 (2 rbi's), Hank Jones 1-4, Brock Lavergne 1-4, Andrew Edgerly 1-4, (3 rbi's), Chase Odom 2-4 (2 rbi's), Josh Adamson 1-4, and Trey Lambert 1-3.

In game 3, the Bucs started on fire by scoring 3 runs in the first 2 innings.  However, pitching and defense would falter again.  Ethan Brevard only managed to pitch 2 2/3 innings due to control problems which led to the Tigers pushing across 4 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning.  Trey Lambert came in on relief and did not fair much better in game 3 as well.  Lambert surrendered 4 earned runs and was only able to record 1 out before giving way to Andrew Edgerly.  Edgerly finished the final 3 innings and did not allow a run while striking out 2.

Offensively in game 3, the Bucs were led by: Ethan Brevard 1-3, (3 rbi's), Hank Jones 1-4, Brock Lavergne 3-4, (1 rbi), Cale Kennamer 1-3, and Trey Lambert 1-1.  In retrospect, the Bucs close a successful season by winning the area championship and becoming regional quarterfinalists.  The Buccaneer season record ended up 19-9. Bucs Win First Game of Series Against Trinity

The Bucs traveled to New Caney on Thursday and won the first game of the best out of three series 6-5. The Bucs went ahead in the top of the fourth inning by scoring two runs only to see Trinity come back and score four in the bottom of the inning. The Bucs would scratch for one run in both the 6th and 7th innings to tie the game and send it into extra innings. The Bucs would then score one run in the top of the 8th and Trinity would come back in the bottom to knot the score up again. Finally, the Bucs scored one in the top of the 9th and held onto the lead to win the game.
