The game was knotted at zero going into the third inning when EC’s bats came alive and drove in 3 runs. But, the Hornets would bounce back scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the third taking advantage of some inopportune errors made by the Bucs. Hardin would widen their lead in the fourth inning pushing across 2 more runs. The Bucs rallied in the sixth inning to close the gap by scoring 2 runs on a pair of Hardin miscues and did not allow the Hornets any runs in their half of the inning, bringing the score to 8-5 going into the seventh inning. The Bucs were unable to get anything going in the seventh and fell to the Hornets by the final score of 8-5. The loss brings the district record to 6-5 for EC with one game remaining. That score would hold until the bottom of the 10th inning when Buna would plate the game winning run on a pop-up single to right field.
