April 22 vs. Deweyville
Tuesday night the Bucs clinched a
playoff spot by defeating the
Pirates of Deweyville 16-9. EC
jumped out to a 2-0 lead but saw
that diminish quickly as
Deweyville scored 9 runs in the
bottom of the third. EC responded
in the top of the fourth with 7
runs of their own to knot it up at
9. The game stay tied until
Chace Odem broke the game wide
open with a 2 out bases loaded
3-run triple in the top of the
6th. EC held the Pirates to just
one run in the 7th to bring the
final to 16-9. Trey Lambert
was the winning pitcher throwing 5
2/3 innings giving up only 1
earned run, striking out 8, and
walking only 1. Chace Odem
was 2 for 4 including a double and
triple with 3 RBI. Josh Adamson
was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.
Bucs are 10-8 overall and finish
7-5 in district for 3rd place. The
Bucs will play Central Heights
Friday, May 2nd at 6:00 in Newton.
Game 2 will be Sat, May 3rd at
1:00 in Newton. If necessary, game
3 will be played 30 minutes after
game 2.
April 15 vs. Hardin
Last night the Bucs went to Hardin
to take on the Hornets in a
pivotal game as district play
winds down. The game was knotted
at zero going into the third
inning when EC’s bats came alive
and drove in 3 runs. But, the
Hornets would bounce back scoring
6 runs in the bottom of the third
taking advantage of some
inopportune errors made by the
Bucs. Hardin would widen their
lead in the fourth inning pushing
across 2 more runs. The Bucs
rallied in the sixth inning to
close the gap by scoring 2 runs on
a pair of Hardin miscues and did
not allow the Hornets any runs in
their half of the inning, bringing
the score to 8-5 going into the
seventh inning. The Bucs were
unable to get anything going in
the seventh and fell to the
Hornets by the final score of 8-5.
The loss brings the district
record to 6-5 for EC with one game
remaining. To reach the playoffs
they need to beat Deweyville and
have Hardin lose one of their two
remaining games. The Bucs have a
bye this Friday and travel to
Deweyville next Tuesday, April 22
for the final regular season game.
April 11 vs. Kountze
Last Friday, April 11, EC bounced
back from a gut wrenching loss to
Buna by beating Kountze 12-7.
Trey Lambert got the win
throwing a complete game. Brock
LaVergne went 3 for 4 for the
Bucs and Lambert, Justin
Devillier, and Seth Duhon
all added two hits a piece to help
lead the Bucs offensively. EC
started off the game hot scoring 7
runs in their half of the first
inning and then added 4 more in
the third inning highlighted by
Lambert and Hallmark’s
back to back homeruns.
EC now boasts a 6-4 district
record with 2 games left. EC
travels to Hardin tonight to take
on the Hornets at 4 p.m.
April 7 vs. Buna
The EC Bucs dropped a
heartbreaker in extra innings last
night to Buna, 5-4. EC started out
hot at the plate scoring all 4 of
their runs in their half of the 2nd
inning. But, Buna would answer
scoring 2 runs in the 4th
and 5th inning knotting
the score up at 4 apiece. That
score would hold until the bottom
of the 10th inning when
Buna would plate the game winning
run on a pop-up single to right
field.
Ethan Brevard, Justin
Devillier, and Trey Lambert
all pitched well for the Bucs but
it was a few errors that proved
too much for EC to overcome.
The loss brings the district
record to 5-4 for EC. Their next
game is Friday against Kountze at
4:30 p.m. in Winnie.

April 1 vs. Warren
EC traveled to Warren yesterday to
take on the Warriors in the first
game of the second round of
district. The Bucs’ bats started off
hot with EC scoring 5 runs in the

prove to be the jolt they needed as
they defeated the Warriors by the
score of 12-2. Seth Duhon was
the winning pitcher for EC.
Offensively Ethan Brevard was
3 for 4 driving in 2 runs and
scoring one himself. J.T.

finished the game with 4 RBI, while
Marcentel finished with 5 RBI.
March 20 vs. Hardin
The Bucs finished off their busy
week at home Friday against Hardin.
EC was sluggish from the start and
nine errors would prove too much for
the Bucs to overcome losing 14-3 to
the Hornets. Hank Jones was a
bright spot going 2 for 2 at the
plate with 1 RBI.
The Buc’s district record is 2-3. EC
has a bye tomorrow in district play
and will host Deweyville Friday at 4
p.m. to complete the first round of
district play.
March 18-19 vs. Kountze
The Bucs traveled to Kountze on
Tuesday to play Kountze but the
rains came down heavily during the
third inning so the game was
postponed to Wednesday with the
Lions leading 2-1. On Wednesday,
Kountze would again strike first
going up 3-1 but EC’s bats then came
alive in the 5th inning
with the Bucs capitalizing on
Kountze’s errors and scoring 10
runs. The 6th inning was
much of the same as EC plated
another 14 runs bringing the final
score to 27-11. Justin Devillier
started on the mound for the Bucs
giving up 3 runs on 1 hit. Trey
Lambert came in and threw 2 and
2/3 innings giving up 5 runs on 5

outbreak with a grand slam in the 6th
inning. Hallmark finished the game
with 6 RBI. Ethan Brevard
also had a good game going 3 for 5
with 5 RBI and scoring 4 runs.
Trey Lambert was 3 for 4 to help
his cause on the mound.
March 15
vs. Anahuac
The Bucs had to turn around and play
Anahuac the next day to make up a
game that was postponed due to rain
earlier in the week. EC jumped out
to an early 2-0 lead and never
looked back taking their frustration
out on the Panthers with an 11-1 win
in six innings. Seth Duhon
was the winning pitcher throwing
five innings and giving up only five
hits. Justin Devillier was
the hot bat for the Bucs driving in
two runs and scoring two. Neil
Escareno, Brock LaVergne,
and Hank Jones all had one
RBI apiece to help EC secure the
victory.
March 14 vs. Buna
Justin Devillier pitched an
outstanding game, but the Bucs were
not able to pull out the win losing
6-4 to the district leaders.
Devillier gave up 4 earned runs
on 7 hits with the other two runs
being scored on a costly error by
the Bucs. Leading the way at the
plate for EC was Seth Duhon

against Anahuac will be played
