EC vs. Anahuac

East Chambers traveled to Anahuac to take on the Panthers on Friday, October 19, 2007.  The Buccaneers dominated the Panthers the entire game racking up 474 total yards of offense while holding Anahuac scoreless.

Just 5:02 into the game, EC would score their first touchdown on a 3-yard run by Tramain Thomas with the Trevino PAT good. Second quarter would see 2 more touchdowns on runs of 1-yard and 18-yards by Thomas and Carrington respectively. Both PAT attempts would fail.

In the third quarter, the Buccaneers would tack on 6 more on a 15-yard pass reception to Kendall Barrow. Again the PAT would fail. The Buccaneers would finish out the game during the fourth quarter with touchdown runs of 29-yards by Donte Raymond and 2-yards by Thomas.  Both PATs were good making the final score EC 39 Anahuac 0.

Coach Valastro - "Another great team effort by the Bucs. Our defense does it again; congrats on another shutout. Offensively we must continue to improve on the offensive line. The O line is getting better, but we must eliminate some of the mistakes. We had some great performances by Jacoby Carrington, Scott Penny, Justin Devillier, Tramain Thomas, and Paul Trammell. Other standouts were Vance McDonald, Justin Hallmark, Kendall Barrow, and Daniel Renner. Player of the week is awarded to Donte Raymond. Donte rushed for 172 yards on 21 carries, and many of the yards he gained came after contact."

Coach Cauthern - "Overall, it was an excellent defensive performance.  Our kids are really flying to the ball and playing with great confidence.  It is fun to see them grow as a unit and begin to understand that if we are focused and play with great intensity we can shut people down.  Our offense does a great job of putting people in a position of being behind and forcing them to do things that they really do not want to do.  Therefore, our defense can tee off and get after them and make big plays.

The defensive player of the week goes to the entire defense.  We played extremely well as a unit, and I truly believe that every person on defense made great plays and did their job on almost every snap.  It was without a doubt a complete "team defense" accomplishment.
