The East Chambers Buccaneers traveled to Hamshire Fannett on Friday, September 14, 2007, to take on the Longhorns. Billed as one of the top games of the week and often called the "Rice Bowl," the game lived up to everyone's expectations. On the very first play of the game, the Bucs opened up with a long pass from Thomas to McDonald which was caught, fumbled, and recovered setting up the first score with just 42 seconds off the clock. The PAT would fail making the score EC 6 HF 0. Hamshire Fannett would then take over at the helm, but the Buc defense would strip the ball from the quarterback's hands and set up the second scoring drive. Quentin Joseph would launch a 27-yard pass to Justin Hallmark for the second score of the game.

The two-point conversion would fail, making the score EC 12 HF 0. The second quarter would witness the Bucs scoring off of one and eight-yard runs by Tramain Thomas. Dryden would tack on two extra points making the score EC 26 HF 0. The third quarter's first score was off of a one-yard run by the Longhorns with the PAT good; however, the Bucs would answer back on the very first drive of their possession with a 72-yard run by Tramain Thomas. The PAT was good making the score EC 33 HF 7. Upon completion of fourth quarter play, the final score would be EC 33 HF 19.

Coach Valastro - "That was an amazing win for our football team and our school. Everyone on the team elevated their play. The first half was awesome. We relaxed in the second half and made a few mistakes; we can correct all those things. I was proud of the defense; they really got after HF. The Bucs earned some respect Friday night.

Player of the week was earned by Tramain Thomas. He had 177 yards and 5 touchdowns on 15 carries and did an awesome job running the offense. Scott Penny also had an awesome game at the tight end position, helping to open holes for Tramain. The O line, Carlos Trevino, Arick Hartman, Tanner Mazzola, Dylan Kramer, Colton Dryden, and Brandon Streeter, did a really nice job. They are getting better every week."

Coach East - "It’s always great to beat Orangefield and HF."

Coach Todd - "It was a very exciting game with a playoff atmosphere.  The kids played really hard and did the job they were ask throughout the week of practice."

Coach Cauthern - "We have co-defensive players of the week for our game against Hamshire Fannett.  Kendall Barrow and Brian Vigers are the defensive players of the week. Going into the week we knew our outside linebackers and our defensive line had a huge role to play in order for us to be successful.  We knew they were going to run the ball right at us and we had some good tendencies from scouting, so we decided to incorporate a few automatic stunts into the game plan that involved our outside linebackers and defensive tackle.  Both of these young men executed their job to perfection.  An great example of this came on the first play from scrimmage for them.  Kendall came on an automatic stunt and caused a fumble and Brian came off his stunt and recovered the fumble.  Kendall also had another caused fumble later in the game.  These two young men had jobs to do that required them to sacrifice their personal stats in order for the team to be successful and they did exactly what they were asked."
