The Buccaneers hosted the
Hardin Hornets in the last
home game of the season on
Friday, November 9, 2007.
The winner of this game
would see the Bucs as
district champs or sitting
at home in the playoffs. EC
fans would witness
parents' night, an
overwhelming outpouring of
spirit and support, and a
tremendous effort by the
Buccaneer football team.
Nursing injuries and missing
integral team players, the
entire team would rise to
the occasion to overcome
these obstacles. |

First quarter play would see
the Bucs score first on a
long pass to Anthony
Ortiz, the PAT would
fail making the score EC 6,
Hardin 0. The EC defense
would hold strong denying
the Hornet's their usual
offensive air show.
Thomas would lead the
Bucs to their second score
of the quarter, and the PAT
would once again fail. The
Buccaneers would struggle on
extra point conversions
throughout the night. Second
quarter would see the
Hornets get on the
scoreboard, but the Bucs
would add an additional 20
points. Halftime score was
EC 32 Hardin 7. The EC lead
would allow for multiple
Bucs to see playing time
during the second half.
In addition, Hardin would
manage to add 22
points, but East Chambers
wasn't finished either and
added 25 more.
On the night, Donte Raymond
contributed 3 touchdowns,
and Jacoby Carrington added
2.
Coach Valastro - "What
a great team effort. I was proud of
the way we handled the pressure of
the big game. Our defense was
outstanding. Our offense executed
the game plan and dominated Hardin
all night. Donte Raymond and
Jacoby Carrington were nearly
unstoppable. Anthony Ortiz
had a couple of outstanding catches
and scores, and Tramain Thomas
and Trey Lambert did a great
job running the offense. Because of
their outstanding play, the Buc
offensive line earned player of
the week honors. They are Seth
Hunt, Dylan Kramer,
Arick Hartman, Tanner Mazzola,
Carlos Trevino, Paul
Trammell, and Scott Penny.
Great job Bucs."
Coach East - "I love it when
our backs are against the wall, and
we come out like we are on a
mission. We dominated the Hornets
the entire game. Kudos to the
defense, because Hardin was capable
of scoring on every play, and we
were really prepared. Way to go
Bucs. I was especially proud that we
played with class, of which, they
(Hardin) showed very little."
Coach Cauthern - "The defense
did a tremendous job of carrying out
the game plan. We wanted to get
pressure on the quarterback and
force him to hurry, and the
secondary did a great job of
man-to-man coverage. The entire
defense rose to the challenge. They
had heard all year about how Hardin
was going to be able to throw the
ball against us without any problem,
and I think all that talk got under
their skin a little. I am proud of
their effort as a unit and now we
need to continue the momentum into
the playoffs. The entire defense
is being acknowledged as defensive
players of the game."
East Chambers will play the
Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs in the
first round of the playoffs.
Game is set for Friday, November 16,
2007, 7:30 p.m., at Shepherd
Stadium, in Shepherd, Texas. The
Bucs are visitors. View
