Bucs vs. Shepherd

The East Chambers Buccaneers opened the season with a 35-0 win over the Shepherd Pirates at home on Friday, August 31. Although most of the game was plagued by rain, the Bucs did not let the weather dampen their spirits.

During the first quarter, EC put up 19 points on 3 runs of 21, 1, and 24 yards by Tramain Thomas. Colton Dryden was 1 for 2 in PATs. Thomas would score again in the second quarter on a 2-yard run with Dryden's PAT good. During the third quarter, Dryden would hit a 24-yard field goal, and during the fourth quarter, Donte Raymond would add 6 on a 3-yard run with the PAT good.

Coach Tony Valastro - "
I saw a lot of good things from the young linemen:  Dylan Kramer, Colton Dryden, Arick Hartman, and Tanner Mazzola all sophomores.  The offensive line exhibited good hustle, few penalties, fair execution.  They were led by senior Carlos Trevino.  I also saw plenty of things that we need to work on if we want to reach the goals that we have set for the team.

Offensive player of the game was awarded to Tramain Thomas who rushed for 89 yards, 4 tds and did a great job running the offense.  Trey Lambert also did an awesome job running the offense at the quarterback spot.  Donte Raymond had a super night, rushing for 118 yards and 1 td.    It was a great win.

Coach Rusty Cauthern - "Defensive Player of the Week goes to Isaiah White who had 6 solo tackles, 6 assists, one interception, and one fumble recovery.  Isaiah has been doing a tremendous job leading our defense.  He has had a tremendous attitude.  Brian Vigers also had an outstanding game versus Shepherd.  He led our defensive line in tackles, including 3 tackles for a loss.  The entire defense did a great job understanding what Shepherd was trying to accomplish on offense.  Furthermore, the defense really pursued the football and accomplished our goal of 959 (9 people within 5 yards of the football when it is tackled 90% of the time)."
