The following EC athletes were selected as all-district in 24-2A girls basketball: 1st team - Charla Thomas and Tayler Kurek; 2nd team - Shaena Oldham and Lindsey McDonald; Honorable Mention - Keaton East and Courtney Joseph.

On Tuesday, February 12, 2008, the Lady Bucs lost a heart breaker in their bi-district match up against the Woden Eagles, 44 – 41. The Lady Bucs started out slow and found themselves down 10 – 1 at one point. They fought their way back to trail 11 – 16 after the first quarter. EC kept up with the Eagles during the 2nd quarter trailing 24 – 19 at the half. The Lady Bucs looked like they would  take control after 3 when they were up 35 – 33, but the Lady Eagles made 9 free throws in the 4th quarter that sealed their win over East Chambers. Leading scorer for the Lady Bucs was Lindsey McDonald. The team is graduating one senior, Lanee Oliver, who will be missed.

The Lady Bucs ended district play on Friday, February 1, 2008, with a win over Hardin, 41-11.  Leading scorer was Tayler Kurek.  The Lady Bucs finished their district season with a record of 9 -3 and came in 2nd in district.  The Lady Bucs are not sure who their first round opponent will be, but they are looking forward to the playoffs. The JV ended district with a record of 9 – 0, and the freshmen team finished with a district record of 1 – 1.

Tuesday, January 29, 2008, the Lady Bucs moved to 8 - 3  by defeating the Lady Lions of Kountze. Kountze was 10 - 0 in district before last night's loss to EC 53 - 52. The Lady Bucs started out slow and let the Lady Lions jump out to a 7-point lead. The Lady Bucs narrowed the lead to 1 by the end of the 1st quarter. By halftime, it was tied at 25. Again in the 3rd quarter, the Lady Bucs allowed Kountze to come out on fire, and they were up by as much as 10 in the 2nd half. The Lady Buc's defense got them back in the game. Tayler Kurek scored 2 of her 21 points with 5 seconds to go after stealing the ball to put the Lady Bucs up by 1. Helping Kurek out were Charla Thomas with 13 and Lindsey McDonald with 10.

The JV also won last night 34 - 14. Jordyn Kurek led the way with 10 points.

January 25, 2008,
the Lady Bucs traveled to Buna and picked up another district win 54 – 29.  This moves the Lady Bucs to 7 – 3 in district.  Leading scorers were Lindsey McDonald with 13, Charla Thomas with 12, and Tayler Kurek with 12.

The Lady Bucs moved into second place in district on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, with a win over Anahuac, 66 – 47.  The Lady Bucs took an early lead and never slowed down.  Leading the way for the Lady Bucs was Charla Thomas with 17, Tayler Kurek with 16, and Courtney Joseph with 10.

The JV won 48 – 19.  Leading scorers were Jordyn Kurek with 13 and Autumn Scott with 11.  

The freshmen also won 14 – 12.  Leading scorer was Janae Alleman with 8.

Tuesday, January 15, 2008, the Lady Bucs improved their district record to 5 – 3 with a win over Warren 56 – 31. Leading scorers were Tayler Kurek with 15 and Charla Thomas with 9. JV also won 30 – 28.

On January 11, 2008, the Lady Bucs hosted Deweyville.  The Lady Bucs jumped out in the beginning and never looked back, winning 61 – 48.  Leading the way for the Lady Bucs was Tayler Kurek with 14 and Charla Thomas with 14.

The JV also won 42 – 22.  Leading scorer had 14 points.

Last night, January 8, 2008, the Lady Bucs took on the Lady Hornets of Hardin.  The Lady Bucs trailed after one quarter 10 to 11.  With the leadership of Charla Thomas and the Lady Bucs' speed, East Chambers fought back to take the lead into the half time 26 – 20.  The Lady Bucs never looked back and finished off the Hornets 62 – 28.  Leading the way for the Lady Bucs were Charla Thomas with 27 and Tayler Kurek with 10.  This moves the Lady Bucs to 3 – 3 in district play. 

The JV also won last night 42 – 10.  Leading the way for the JV was Autumn Scott with 10.

The Lady Bucs took on Kountze in front of a packed house on January 4, 2008, and fell short 56 – 43.  Kountze led the whole way, but the Lady Bucs played with determination.  Leading the way for EC was Tayler Kurek with 18.  This moves the Lady Bucs to 2 – 3 in district. 

The JV won 42 – 27 over Kountze’s JV team.  Leading scorer was Carson Campbell

On Wednesday, January 2, 2008, the Lady Bucs traveled to Beaumont to take on the Kelly Bulldogs.  The Lady Bucs lost this close game 54 – 58.  East Chambers never slowed down; they trailed by as much as 14 at one point and continued to work hard to even the score up.  Leading scorers for the Lady Bucs were Tayler Kurek with 15 and Shaena Oldham with 10. 

The JV Lady Bucs won 63 – 55.  Leading scorers were Camarie Kear with 14, Abbey Johnson had 11, and Autumn Scott had 10.

The Lady Bucs moved to 2 – 2 in district last night, December 18, 2007, with a big win over Buna, 59 – 27.  The Lady Bucs took a 10-point lead after one period of play and never slowed down.  Leading scorers for the Lady Bucs were Shaena Oldham with 18 and Charla Thomas with 13.  The Lady Bucs do not play again till after the new year.  On Wednesday, January 2, 2008, they will travel to Beaumont Kelly to play their next game. 

 The JV also won big last night 32 – 9.  Leading scorers were Abbey Johnson with 8 and Jordyn Kurek with 8.

The Lady Bucs fell to 1 – 2 in district Friday night, December 14, 2007, with a loss to Anahuac, 42-49.  The Lady Bucs fell behind early, 4 – 15.  With Courtney Joseph hitting a three at the buzzer, the lead was cut to only 2 going into the half.  The Lady Bucs stayed with Anahuac most of the 2nd half, but just couldn’t quite get there.  Leading scorer for the Lady Bucs were Tayler Kurek with 13.  The Lady Bucs have a game against Buna Tuesday night at home.  This will be the Lady Bucs last game till after the Christmas break.

The JV won against Anahuac 47 – 20.  Leading scorers were Camarie Kear with 12 and Jordyn Kurek with 10. 

The freshmen lost 8 – 14.  Leading scorer had 4 points.

Last night, December 11, 2007,  the Lady Bucs took on Evadale in a non-district game.  The Lady Bucs jumped out early and led the entire game, winning 43 – 26.  Leading the Lady Bucs were Charla Thomas with 13 and Shaena Oldham with 8.  The Lady Bucs moved to 7 – 6 for the year. 

JV also won 31 – 17.  Leading scorers for JV were Camarie Kear with 10 and Autumn Scott with 9.

The Lady Bucs lost a close one Friday night, December 7, 2007, as Warren won 45 – 40.  The Lady Bucs missed their opportunity to win this game at the free throw line.  Leading the Lady Bucs was Charla Thomas with 16 points.

December 4, 2007
, The Lady Bucs outlasted Deweyville 56 – 50  to start district at 1 – 0.  The Lady Bucs were trailing by 1 after the first quarter and by 3 at half.  The 3rd quarter the Lady Bucs fought back and tied the game.  In the final quarter the Lady Bucs turned on their game to come out on top.  Leading scorers were Shaena Oldham with 16, Charla Thomas with 13, and Tiffany Tezeno with 10.

The JV also won 54 – 18.  Leading the way for the Lady Bucs was Courtney Joseph with 19.

The varsity girls traveled to Big Sandy, November 29 - December 1, to compete in their tournament.  The Lady Bucs took on Corrigan-Camden first and defeated them 49–12.  Leading scorers for that game were Tayler Kurek and Charla Thomas.  Friday EC traveled back to face a good Lovelady team and lost 29–43.  Leading the way was Tayler Kurek.  Saturday the Lady Bucs played in the 5th place game and lost to Coldspring 42–48.  Leading scorers were Tayler Kurek and Tiffany Tezeno

The JV Lady Bucs traveled to Hardin this past weekend to compete in tournament play.  Thursday they played Caney Creek and fell short 18–24.  Friday they played Hull – Daisetta and won 47–3.  Saturday they traveled back to play for consolation and played Hardin.  The Lady Bucs won this meeting 36–20.  Courtney Joseph led the way with 20 points. 

The Lady Bucs improved their record last night, November 27, 2007,  to 4-3 with a win over Bridge City 54 – 39.  The Lady Bucs hard work on defense gave ample opportunities for many lay-ups.  The Lady Bucs fought hard through foul trouble late in the game to win.  Leading the way for EC was Charla Thomas with 11, Tiffany Tezeno with 10, and Lindsey McDonald with 10.

The JV also won last night 47 – 10.  Leading scorers were Autumn Scott with 14 and Courtney Joseph with 11.

The freshmen lost 8 – 29.  Scorers were Jordyn Kurek with 4 and Janae Alleman with 4.

The varsity fell short last night, November 20, 2007, to PNG in a great battle, 46 – 51.  The Bucs took the lead early on, but PNG fought back to take the lead into the half.  After that PNG held onto the lead until the end.  Leading scorers for the Lady Bucs were Tiffany Tezeno with 12 and Charla Thomas and Tayler Kurek with 8 each.

The JV also lost last night, 45 – 48.  Leading scorer was Courtney Joseph. The freshmen lost 13 – 47.  Leading scorers were Mattie Edwards and Patricia Paniagua.

On Tuesday, November 13, 2007, the Lady Bucs traveled to High Island and won 62 – 16.  The Lady Bucs jumped out early and took a 40 – 3 lead into half time.  Leading scorers for the game are Charla Thomas – 19, Tiffany Tezeno – 14, and Tayler Kurek – 13.  This game gave the Lady Bucs a record of 3 – 2EC has won 3 games in a row now and are starting to really come together.  

The JV also played in High Island and won 64 – 16.  Leading scorer was Camarie Kear – 9. 

This past weekend, November 10, 2007, the Lady Bucs basketball teams traveled to Warren to participate in the Warren tournament.  The Lady Bucs won consolation. On Thursday, the varsity fell short to Evadale 46–41.  Friday, the Lady Bucs came back and beat Buna 54–18.  Saturday, the Lady Bucs came out on top of Deweyville 42-31. Leading scorers this weekend were Charla Thomas, Tayler Kurek, and Tiffany Tezeno.  

The JV also participated in this tournament in the JV division. The JV Lady Bucs came in 1st place this past weekend.  Thursday, the JV played Evadale and won 57–38.  Friday, they played Hardin and won 60–18.  Saturday the JV played for the championship against Warren winning 64–24. Leading the way for the JV were Lindsey McDonald, Courtney Joseph, and Camarie Kear.

The freshmen also played in the JV division.  Thursday they beat Sabine Pass JV 19–10, Friday they lost to Warren JV 36–10, and Saturday they also lost to Evadale.

The Lady Bucs opened their season with a loss to Nederland on Tuesday night, November 6, 2007, 26-34.  The leading score for the Lady Bucs was Charla Thomas with 8 points.  Thomas and Tayler Kurek also lead the team defensively.  The Lady Bucs will travel to Warren this weekend to participate in their tournament.  Ninth grade lost 16-48, and JV also lost 46-47.
