HS Band Earns Sweepstakes Award |
|
The high
school band traveled to Silsbee
on Thursday, April 10, and
competed in the UIL Concert and
Sight Reading Contest. The band
received 1st division “Superior”
ratings from all three concert
judges and all three sight
reading judges. On top of these
accomplishments, the UIL
compiles the ratings from the
fall marching season, and if a
school earned a 1st division in
marching as well as this
spring’s Concert and Sight
reading contest, then the UIL
awards a “Sweepstakes.” Since
the band program was started at
EC in the 1959-60 school year,
only two bands have been
"Sweepstakes Bands." The first
sweepstakes band was in 1998-99,
and the second sweepstakes band,
in the school's history, is this
year's 2007-08 Buccaneer Band.
