The Academic Challenge Team swept the Channel 6 Challenge Team matches this year by winning first place and substantial  scholarship money. The team defeated the following high schools: Buna, Vidor, Hardin-Jefferson, and Kelly.

Channel 6 will hold an awards banquet in the spring where the team will be honored. Team members include Sean Stevens, Jake Cosio, and Bryce Gilfillian, captain.  Kaitlyn Hale is the alternate. Sponsor is Mrs. Karen Slay.

The EC Challenge Team also won third place at the Lamar Cypress Challenge in Orange, Texas. They earned $1600.00 in scholarship money.
