Each May
eighth grade students are given the opportunity to take a
keyboarding/word processing placement exam which is strictly
optional. Those students who successfully master the
requirements, by passing the exam, are exempt from having to
take the high school keyboarding course. |

The
placement test covers various word processing skills and
concepts, and students must demonstrate correct keyboarding
skills while formatting specific documents. The document
formats covered include block and modified block letters,
standard and simplified memorandums, tables, and MLA reports.
In addition, knowledge of proofreading marks is beneficial, as
well as, proficient touch-typing skills. Students will be
allowed 1 hour and 15 minutes for the timed test. |
