  "Green" Technology Tips

  • Buy All-in-Ones.  All-in-one fax-printer-copiers save on electricity and space, and reduce equipment heat emissions.
  • Shut down.  Power down and save up. Shut down your machine at night and when it's not in use.
Think Green.
  • Spin down your hard drive.  Set your computer to put your hard drive to sleep when it's not in use. This extends the life of your drive and saves energy.

  • Get a "Smart" power switch.  When you shut your computer down, this power switch cuts off juice to all your computer peripherals at once.
  • Use a laptop, which typically consumes less power than desktops.
  • Turn off peripherals.  Unplug or power down idle computer peripherals like scanners or printers when not in use.
  • Don't use a screen saver.  Screen savers are not necessary on modern monitors, and studies show they actually consume more energy than allowing the monitor to dim when it's not in use.

  • Be an Energy Star.  An energy efficient PC and monitor will feature the ENERGY STAR label or logo. Look for it and save on energy . . . and energy bills.
